What is the Church's position on the miracle of feeding the multitude?

Although I know some liberal Catholic theologians will teach the theory that Jesus fed the multitude by convincing everyone present to share their bread and fish that they brought with them in their pockets, I consider that a dumming down of Jesus into just a good public speaker / preacher such as a Joel Osten of today. The Miracle wasn’t Jesus’ ability to convince everyone to share but he actually did multiply the loaves and fishes. In order to confront this misdirection as I see it, I would like to know or get some kind of link to what the Church’s offical position and teaching on this is.
