I recently fell and broke my leg and had to have surgery. I tripped and fell five feet in front of the front door of a worldwide store.A chunk of concrete was missing and it was 5 inches wide and 1 1/4 inch deep. Any advice?

You are free to consult an attorney and file a civil suit if you cannot reach a settlement with the store’s insurance company. The Church has no teaching against tort law.

Most businesses will cover your expenses in order to avoid such a suit. However, I would think getting an attorney involved would be wise. When things go to litigation you can usually avoid paying further bills until a resolution. Anyway, do get some advise. Even home owners are responsible for injuries of another on their property. That can even include someone breaking into your residence. (Wow)

I always encourage people to hire attorneys for everything … especially me! 😃

Seek assistance from a qualified law professional. And don’t trust advice that you find online other than the advice to get a qualified law professional.
I agree 100%. I hope it was obvious that I was trying to inject a little humor with my prior post. Prayers are with you …

thnx. hope my msg didn’t come across as a strike against you, especially if you are a law professional 🙂

Get a lawyer. Do not use no win no pay ambulance chasers unless you are destitute. Keep a file on every cost arising from the accident immediately, as there is gold in them there bills. I presume you have reported the accident to the store? Check the area for cctv footage that could be accessible on any writ of discovery. Did you have any witnesses? Did you get their personal details?
Just remember. Do not trust the store or their insurers. Also do not trust your lawyer.
Do not sign anything coming from the other side. And whatever you do don’t trust anyone.
This comes directly from your friendly downtown legal professional.
