What is the Church's teaching about the power and limits of Satan?

Every once in a while I will hear someone say, ‘the devil has him,’ or ‘Satan made him do that.’ I have never understood that Satan was omni-present, yet we talk as if his power were equal to God’s; that he can be anywhere he wants whenever he wants. What is the Church’s teaching about the power and limits of Satan and the other fallen angels?
