First, let be clear that I am not interested in marijuana. I’m asking this question because I’m a high school student surrounded by people who smoke on a regular basis. I recently got into an argument with someone making the claim that smoking marijuana and getting high is no different from drinking. I couldn’t think of a good response to this. Alcohol seems to be a part of Catholic culture and I’ve always been taught that drinking is fine in moderation. It seems to me that the effects of drinking are almost the same as marijuana- feeling relaxed and a bit silly. So I guess my question is, why is it ok to drink but not get high?
