What is the Church's teaching on using birth control for genetic conditions?

I am pro life, against artificial birth control, etc. However, in the case of a family with a serious, fatal genetic illness which is 50% likely to be passed on to a child, what options are open to them to prevent pregnancy? I feel like the husband should have a vasectomy (he is the one who will pass it on.) They are not Catholic. I don’t want to sin in my advice.
