If written on this board before about my depression. At that time, I stils was still going to Mass. Over the past five months, I have stopped going to Mass. I have tried to get back and received communion in a state of Mortal sin twice. I hoped it would give me the extra push I needed to get my head straight. The first time helped a little because I went to my regular parish, the second time has a joke because it was a round church with none of the traditional Catholic traditions.

In addition, the Chatholic church hasn’t offered me any meaningful religious education since RICA. RCIA is almost meaningless to someone who really needs instruction about the “qualities” of the Catholic religion. Although I would never consider another religion, Protestant religions are starting to look good because they are interested in promoting the extended learning of the religiion through Sunday school or additional struction.

If it weren’t for my mother, I would be first in line for suicide. Although the Church teaches it is wrong, it doesn’t give me any hope for the future. I my mother goes to hell because she is not Catholic, then I’m ready to go to hell with her.

Any suggestions on how the Church want help me? I can see a psychiatric because they only see hospital patients. I will have to make a good try at suicide to even get their attention.

Is this question too difficult? Have none of you experienced true, blue depresssioin.?

It’s terminal, you know?

It is when you think that you are alone that you are the least alone.
If you don’t believe that then think of Jesus who felt all of what you feel pluss what you could never feel, because He alone took on your sins from the thought in Gods mind of your being born.
Yes I have been there and it hurts, it is like your whole interior is alone, that God for the person you hope that He is, is not even thinking of your thoughts, of your feelings, of your needs, of your hurt, of your pain.
Yes that God who tells us He is LOVE never even thinks of you, it seems.

And that is exactly what satin wants you to think. it even used to tell me that no one loves me so I might as well jump out the 4 5 6th story building I lived in. As soon as I heard that I, knew there was a God who loved me, and I had to start thinking God not self, chuck out the “I factor”. The poor me that was hurting. Yes it was satin that was putting these thoughts on my mind.

How do I know? because God is LOVE and His word cannot get through to me when I block it with my own thoughts of self interest. But satin can, because all satin knows is self interest the “I factor” poor me, hate all, factor and any other thought that tells me that God is not here, not interested, not able to help.

Think of the thoughts in your mind are they I factors yes then think wisely think God thoughts bassed on God is love. You can do it NOT byyour self it starts by telling God you are sorry for not trusting Him telling Him you can’t do it alone telling Him you need Him, you need Him in side you give your self to Him invite the Holy Spirit in to Help to give you wisdom, fortitude, discernment.

Brother you can do it.
God bless

I suggest going to a medical doctor. I suggest checking out your state’s mental health center, they can not turn anyone away.

Leah, I’m truly sorry to read about your depression! As someone who has also had several severe bouts of it (even recently), I know how it saps your strength and darkens your mind! Please know, first off, that I will offer my Rosary for you today. Our Blessed Mother will take your problems to her Son and help obtain the graces that you need. Please feel free to send me a private message if you would like to talk more.

First things first:
If it weren’t for my mother, I would be first in line for suicide. Although the Church teaches it is wrong, it doesn’t give me any hope for the future. … I can see a psychiatric because they only see hospital patients. I will have to make a good try at suicide to even get their attention.
I’ve had the temptation to suicide many times, too. It is a sure sign that you need to seek help from a psychiatrist, who may well give you medicine that will keep you from bottoming-out like this. (I resisted medicine for years, but I’m on it now.) The previous poster is right; you should not be turned away by a state-run center and there is certainly no need to make an attempt on your life to get help! I’ve found that the best way to cope with the suicidal thoughts themselves is to nip them in the bud. In other words, when the thought occurs to you, tell yourself firmly that this is not an option and that you need to come-up with something else!
Over the past five months, I have stopped going to Mass.
I’m sure that I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know, but you need to force yourself to go to Mass at least on Saturday/Sunday, even if you don’t want to. This is as much for your personal benefit as it is to fulfill your obligation. There is nothing that Our Lord in the Blessed Sacrament can’t do for you! Getting your spiritual life back on track is truly the best first step to being and feeling better! So, mabe keep it simple and start with that. Now, you probably won’t see fireworks or feel dramatically better all at once, but He will give you the graces He knows you need. If you seek, He will make sure that you find! Maybe stick to your home parish, if that’s where you find it easier to concentrate.

Before you receive Our Lord again, it seems that you will also need to make a Confession, since you have been away from Mass for a while. If you can’t do this before Mass time today, you can still go to Mass and pray a spiritual communion (see below) instead of receiving the Sacrament. Confession will not only “clear you” to receive Our Lord, but it is its own source of His graces to overcome your sins.

You might even try to get in a daily Mass or two each week, for the same reason. If your schedule doesn’t permit this, visiting the Blessed Sacrament when you can, even if it’s just for a few minutes, can also bring great graces. Are you familiar with spiritual communions? There are several formal prayers of this type, or you can pray your own off the top of your head in front of Our Lord. Basically, you just ask Christ to become present to you as if you had been able to receive Him in Communion, maybe following it with an Our Father, a Hail Mary and a Glory Be.

I hear you! Even though I am blessed to be a cradle Catholic, my Dad was an RCIA convert who, sadly, never had really good spiritual formation. Most of us cradle Catholics don’t either, though, so we have to go get it ourselves.

I’ve spent the better part of my adult life trying to find a way to live my faith in my daily life. When I met my husband, in addition to giving me the gift of himself and our girls, he introduced me to the writings and spirituality of St. Josemaria Escriva, which has been the only Catholic spirituality that has made real sense to me. In a nutshell, it is about a daily routine of solid spiritual practices (such as the morning offering, Angelus, examination of conscience, Mass, Rosary, meditation, and spiritual reading), paired with making holy even your most mundane daily chores and activities by doing them for Christ. (Despite all the recent dishonest and sensational media coverage, this is the spirituality of Opus Dei, the personal prelature founded by Saint Josemaria and fully blessed by our Church.)

Most of Saint Josemaria’s works are published by Scepter. It is hard to know where to begin in recommending one, but my husband got me started with “Friends of God,” which is a little pocket-sized volume of some of the saint’s homilies. I also like “Furrow,” which is in short chapters and sections by theme. Any good Catholic bookstore will probably have them, or you can order them online. Since I see that you are in Texas, your chances are even better, as I know that there are several Opus Dei centers there. You might even try to find the one nearest you and see what Masses and activities are offered there – you can bet they will be reverent and solid. I would be glad to help you do this if you want to private message me with the general area of the state you are in.
I my mother goes to hell because she is not Catholic, then I’m ready to go to hell with her.
Finally, we do not know who is or is not going to Hell, or even where we ourselves are going – only God decides this or knows this, and He is Mercy and Perfect Wisdom. So, entrust yourself and your Mom to Him. Pray for her soul daily regardless.

I hope that these ideas help you. Count on my prayers and continued interest in you, if you would like! May God bless you!
