What is the cutoff when you can receive communion?

Is there a statement by the Church that one should not receive communion after a certain point of the Mass if a parishoner arrives late? Does the intention of getting to Mass on time affect whether or not one can receive communion even if one arrives during the consecration?

No there is not “cut-off” point. If you walk in when everyone is getting up to go to Holy Communion you can get in line and receive Holy Communion.

What you have done however is receive Holy Communion “Outside of Mass”. This is because you have not attended the whole Mass and satisfied your obligation. You must return to hear another full Mass, to satisfy the obligation.
