Yeah, I think the thread title very clearly states the OP’s view of Catholics. Guys, we’ve got an anti-Catholic in our midst. 😦

Nah. Christians are followers of Christ such as the Apostles who did performed miracles in His name and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all who had ears to hear. Catholics are, professed followers of Christ, but more prevalently followers of men and sacred tradition. Be free guys. Live in and the liberty the Holy Spirit gives us. 😃

Yep, my suspicions were correct. Sorry, I don’t think you’ll find a sympathetic audience on these boards. Catholics are the original Christians.

You don’t follow Christ. You follow your own idea of who Christ is and what He said. If you did follow Christ, you would believe in the Eucharist!😃

Nah.

Just to be brief:

Matthew 10:40

He who receives you receives Me, and he who receives Me receives the One who sent Me.

John 17:20

My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message.

Sorry, that Gospel didn’t fall from the sky in front of you, nor (unless you’re Mormon) did an angel bring it to you. You got that Bible from the followers of men that you are trashing, who preserved the Tradition. You can’t trash your sources and then have an authority to stand on.

Catholics are Christians… though not every Christian is a Catholic 🙂
Actually, they **are **Catholics if they are baptized. Baptism incorporates a person into the Body of Christ-- the Church. And, there’s only one Church.

They are in an imperfect union because they are not part of the visible Body of Christ, but they are Catholics nonetheless.

This isn’t the first time a link to that site has been posted here. It’s chock full of misperceptions and/or lies about Catholicism, erroneous Biblical quotations, and, in general, is just so much anti-Catholic garbage. If the original poster would like to take one quote from that link and discuss it, fine. It will be soundly refuted. To throw the whole site out for discussion is a little much and is in violation of the one topic per thread rule of this forum.

Bears repeating. 👍

Umm…Actually…Roman Catholics, Orthodox and Anglicans by adhering to tradition are following Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Apostles (you may want to read some of the passages on tradition from scripture). It is other folks who chucked the Apostles out the door in favor of “liberty”.

I would also suggest you read scripture to note that Jesus Christ was on observent Jew and therefore participated in liturgy. Oh…how soon we cut ourselves loose from the reality of scripture and histor.

Note: I do realize they are further issues for EO & RCC over issues of primacy, mahisterium and so on.

Christian -
the name given by the Greeks or Romans, probably in reproach, to the** followers of Jesus (“little Christ’s**!”). It was first used at Antioch. The names by which the disciples were known among themselves were “brethren,” “the faithful,” “elect,” “saints,” “believers.” But as distinguishing them from the multitude without, the name “Christian” came into use, and was universally accepted. This name occurs but three times in the New Testament (Acts 11:26; 26:28; 1 Peter 4:16).

So, If one follows Christ then they are a Christian.

Maybe it was a slip stating it christians and catholics when the aritcle said catholics and protestants.

But thats only a indication of the brainwashing we have given one another to look for the difference. If you follow Christ and His teaching then you are a Christian, period.

And if anyones worried that some call themselves Christian and they are unworthy, just wait for the first persucation and see whos still stepping up to the plate for the title.

😉

thanks adrift

sigh should I post there or is it in hand already?

I wish people would just quit calling each other non christian based on how they worship Christ. If one worships Christ then they are christian, plain and simple.

The word is being used as as proving ground with everyone judging one another to be able to call themselves one.

sigh

Which is confusing, becomes that means that Christians (in your sense), who read the NT a lot, are “followers of men” such as Paul, “and” of the “sacred tradition” that he recommended to the Corinthians. So that means they are Catholics (in your sense) 😃
