Eastern Catholic Churches are in communion with the Bishop of Rome, while Eastern Orthodox Churches are not. Eastern Catholic Churches assent to all the same teachings as do Roman Catholics, while the Eastern Orthodox differ on a few teachings. There are a small number of western rite Orthodox parishes that are under the authority of a couple of the Eastern Orthodox jurisdictions.
