I keep getting mixed answers on this.

would it be wrong for me (a college student) to attend a college that my finacial aid pays for that requires some of the money to pay for the school’s insurance plan that requires contraceptives and sterilization?

(The school is secular so I’m assuming they are not protesting the Obama Mandate)

I ask because I only have 2 days left before my school starts again and want to make to don’t get myself in a situation where I sin and have to drop out of school and waste alot of money.

I tried to read articles from the USCCB and Catholic Bio-Ethics pages but they never load up

(please, no heated arguments, I don’t want this thread to get deleted off the forum too like my last one)

I think you’re fine unless you took advantage of contraceptives and sterilization.

I should not let that get in the way of your important curricula. ie don’t let it be the excuse that you could fall upon to get out of your studies!!

Don’t take me wrongly - but it is not inside your control at the moment to determine how the insurance moneys are spent. If you do have the choice you could start a movement to elect that insurance cover be obtained eleswhere and possibly at better premium levels and more in line with your combined consciences. Now that would be a worthwile sideline project. Who knows you might even be able to claim an introductory commission from the Insurance House / Brokers!!

I don’t think you would be in the wrong for going to that school. But, I’m an uneducated layman. Your best bet would be to use the ask an apologist forum.

I’m in a similar place…I’m just starting a third graduate degree at a secular school which, being in New England, may well have same sex marriage supporters and doesn’t have a problem with contraceptives for students. However- my curriculum will be in literature and creative writing and I intend to use my writing to glorify the Holy Trinity, the saints and apostles as much as possible. I may have to bite my tongue, so to speak, at times in discussion forums, but I’m just going to be myself and not worry much about that.

No it is not immoral. GO TO SCHOOL.

And moreover, you with your scrupulosity should not be posing these questions here. Rather, you should be talking to your priest.
