After 30+ years, I recently made contact with a friend from my youth. We were both very active in our church and youth group activities in the 1970"s. Very strong and active in our catholic faith. She made references that one of our old parish preists, is now an ecumenical catholic, not Roman Catholic. I did some research to find more information on this. I was shocked what I found. Not only is he a so called “ecumenical” priest, and now the “regional vicar”, but a woman from our old parish is now ordained a priest whithin this group. She has the title “Mother”. Their group claims to be “Catholic” and states that they are faithful to the Catholic Church of Rome, but clearly they are not. They basically claim to be a catholic church that provides a refuge for those catholics who feel prejudiced or unwelcomed due to their beliefs contrary to roman catholic teaching i.e. homosexuality, premarital sex, the immaculate conception, priests marrying, divorce, etc. etc. Apparently they are not a small isolated group, but are fairly large with communities across the US. Although my freind did not state so, I suspect she is now a member of this church. I hope to approach her with some inquiring questions to start some dialogue on this, but would like to learn more about it first. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has information or experience with this organization/group/church. Here is the information I have about this:

churchofthebeloved-ecc.org/html/contact.html

churchofholyfamily.org/rmrc/index.html

lightofchristecc.org/files/Rocky_Mtn_Regional_Council_Newsletter_August_2010.pdf

churchofholyfamily.org/rmrc/html/vicar.html

ecumenical-catholic-communion.org/index.html

Thank you for any (name removed by moderator)ut you might have!

They’re called “Protestants”. I doubt they’ll be around in another 10 years, if that. So I would ask your friend where anyone in their community received the auhtority to change the teachings of the Catholic Church. By the way, there is no such thing as the Roman Catholic Church. You are Catholic or you are not. They are not.

What is the Ecumenical Catholic Church?
Probably the latest protestant denomination to be aware of and stay away from :compcoff:

/* x = number of protestant denominations (approximated, for nobody really knows how many there are) */

int x = 41000;

while(protestantism == true)
{
x++
}

There have always been schismatics. Anyone who has been a Catholic should know the grave sinfulness of schism.
