Did God create it or is it simply the removal of immortaility? or what?

Death is perhaps the most obvious and notable effects from the Sins of Adam and eve.

It was not orginally entended by God; and rather than “created” by God is “permitted” by God as just punishment [in the Will of God] [which MUST BE both Just and GOOD], as heirs to the Kingdom God ordained.

God Bless,
Pat

(1) *FOR US HUMANS, death is due to original sin.

***BUT Christ has destroyed death! The good news is that God desires all to be saved, and at the end of time, our bodies will be resurrected and glorified!

(2) *FOR THE REST OF NATURAL CREATION–PLANTS & ANIMALS, death is a natural component to a Universe with laws.

***But at the end of time, there will be a “new heaven and a new earth,”—a new creation, binding Heaven and nature. So we may hope to see our dead pets! 😃

I disagree with the previous posts. Death was always part of God’s plan of Salvation. However, Original Sin changed death from transformative from this temporal life to Everlasting Life with God in Heaven into the painful sense of loss and suffering that we experience as consequence of our brokeness.

First we see that God removed Adam and Eve from the Garden of Eden: Genesis 3:22-23 (NAB) “Then the LORD God said: ‘See! The man has become like one of us, knowing what is good and what is bad! Therefore, he must not be allowed to put out his hand to take fruit from the tree of life also, and thus eat of it and live forever.’ The LORD God therefore banished him from the garden of Eden…”

Second, Mary, born without Original Sin and never tainted with sin throughout her life also experienced death. But she experienced as we were before Original Sin as a transformative experience entering into eternal Life.

Are you saying that death is necessary part of human life that even before The Fall, man will die so that man will enter heaven as a soul?

Pope John Paul II disagrees with this, as he taught in Theology of the Body. The body of man is an important part of how God made man. The body needs the soul to live, that has been known since the beginning of time. But what we miss is that the soul needs the body to come into being. A soul without body is inert, it has no purpose. God from the beginning until today creates body and soul at the same time because He intended them to be together for all eternity. That is why we Catholics do not abort babies, because Adam was made body and soul together, and so was Eve, so does every conception of every fetus in the history of the planet. You have to see the human body as more than a transitional phase. The whole point of creating the physical universe is for man whom God made physical. God intended man to have a physical body with his soul. God did not mean this as a temporary thing. God’s intention from the beginning as well is to dwell amongst us, that He would have become mas as Jesus Christ regardless if the fall happened or not. It could have happened much sooner had man not fell. Remember, God is spirit, and the angels are spirit. Only humans have bodies, this is God’s supreme gift to us out of pure and genuine love.

Second, your understanding of Original Sin and Mary is not in line with Church teaching. Mary, while being pure from conception, was still capable of death. Christ died, and he is God. This is because the nature of man itself has fallen. Even though one does not have Original Sin does not mean one cannot die in the physical sense. Death will only cease in the end of times when Christ renews heaven and earth. Mary exprienced the same death we all will experience. And she experienced the resurrection that all those who are worthy will experience at the end of time.
