What is the general opinion of the Church toward children born out-of-wedlock?

My friend has decided that she wishes to be Catholic. This would not be a problem, although she is yet to actually convert, but she has now also decided to have a baby. She is not married yet and they are unlikely to marry before the child is born (seeing as they have not even officially converted yet).

My question is what kind of treatment can the child expect from the Church? Do Catholics believe that, like un-baptised babies, such a child cannot enter Heaven? Can the child still be baptised and so on?
