AV-gospel 46, gospel of Christ 11, gospel of God 7, gospel of the Kingdom 3, misc 10; 77
  1. a reward for good tidings
  2. good tidings
2a) the glad tidings of the kingdom of God soon to be set up, and subsequently also of Jesus the Messiah, the founder of this kingdom. After the death of Christ, the term comprises also the preaching of (concerning) Jesus Christ as having suffered death on the cross to procure eternal salvation for the men in the kingdom of God, but as restored to life and exalted to the right hand ofGod in heaven, thence to return in majesty to consummate the kingdom of God
2b) the glad tidings of salvation through Christ
2c) the proclamation of the grace of God manifest and pledged in Christ
    2d) the gospel
2e) as the messianic rank of Jesus was proved by his words, his deeds, and his death, the narrative of the sayings, deeds, and death of Jesus Christ came to be called the gospel or glad tidings

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it **is the power of God **for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

1 Corinthians 1:18 For the word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

since
  1. the gospel is the power of God
  2. the word of the cross is the power of God
therefore the gospel includes the word of the cross.

IMHO, the Gospel (good news) is that Jesus came, died for our sins, was buried and then resurrected, and then was seen by the Apostles and many other witnesses. Many things are taught along-side the Gospel, but I believe this is its essence, taught by all the Apostles and their legitimate successors.

1 Corinthians 15:1-11
1 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; 2 By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. 3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: 5 And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: 6 After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. 7 After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. 8 And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. 11 Therefore whether it were I or they, so we preach, and so ye believed.

Thank you. Could you elaborate, though.

Paul is here asserting his apostolic role, which was given to him by Jesus “as one born out of time” (Gal. 1:11-12, 1 Cor. 15:8) and confirmed by Peter (Acts 9:36, Gal. 1:18). His particular mission was to the Gentiles (Gal. 2:7-9) and the particular part of the gospel that was given to him was the in-grafting of Gentiles to the chosen people (Eph 2:19-20).

The “content” of the Gospel he preached is summarized in 1 Cor. 15:1-4:
Now I am reminding you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you indeed received and in which you also stand. Through it you are also being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you, unless you believed in vain. For I handed on to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures; that he was buried; that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures.
