What is the hardest part of being a Priest

Here are a few:
  1. The unrealistic demands made by some priests to hold several positions within the diocese.
  2. The 20 percent of the faithful that are unrealistic and take up all your energy…this is especially true with some of the daily mass crowd,
  3. People in the parish that judge a priest according to their own misgivings or fantasies,. I especially love when people say you take a vow of poverty…noooo I’m a diocesan priest.
4 fellow priests that stayed in their parishes so long that they messed up the faithful with their liberal agenda and now I’m dealing with people who are almost basic in their understanding of the faith.
  4. I love when people say I went to catholic schools or CCD all my life and then proceed to say something so dumb that is not even a church teaching of the faith but rather a personal opinion.
  5. Foolish people that think they don’t need confession but yet come late for mass and still receive the Eucharist. Oh by the way,for these people they have a right to receive the “bread”.
  6. The fools that think when their loved one dies, even though they never or hardly entered the church, lived a sin filled life, are now angels in heaven and have the ability to grant wishes. He or she is now watching down on me… I will pray to him… Perhaps praying for his soul and having masses said for them may be more wise at this point. Please don’t presume people are in heaven…there is purgatory. Pray always for the dead with mass and fasting.
  7. Dealing with falling down buildings, lack of faith understanding, and people complaining that money is being asked just to fix their falling down churches…father “always ask for money”…well, my foolish children, this is your church building. So take care of it,
  8. "Here is my dollar in the collection,…btw. It’s the same amount I gave for years and I’m driving a brand new car and live I beautiful home. Yet, father still asks for money… Wake up people.
10). “Father, my child can’t attend mass on Sunday or Ccd”. Why? He or she has a game or cheerleading practice… This is the most important. E
Sorry to be so blunt but it’s the truth at least in my current parish assignment. Please God help me and the foolish sheep I’m called to serve. I’m sure other parishes are more educated, supportive, and understand the true faith and not their opinions.

thank you for replying i just wanted to clear up that i was dessert and have been “Through Him” for quite a while. When i first signed on i mispelled desert. I am not in the desert now and still in the church.

Everyone has feelings one of the things i have learned reverting about 8 years ago and the priests are very human. I think they do have our souls in their thoughts. They help my concsience.

I spoke with a priest on line and he said it was when he had consoled a woman and could not renew her to the church or her new marriage. I am speculating but I think she was divorced and then her ex became catholic so she wanted to reconcile and get married again in the Church. Wow, this was for me, as I was thinking of divorce and I gave it a couple years and with some counseling have decided to be more patient and with more understanding we are staying together or if worst does happen just separate for awhile, take some retreat time out, and don’t do anything too impulsive. The priest said there were so many hard feelings about it but they finally worked through it. I don’t know the canon law on it, but the Church wants us to take the Sacraments seriously, so it is best we proceed cautiously, and carefully. Priests have our souls best interest at heart. Bless you JL
This happened about 2 months ago and I am just getting back LOL.
Blessings!
This was me and i am still married, a lot has happened in my life but i can say my structure to my life is due to the help from the priests, of course representing Jesus. I do pray for them and if they go to Jesus before me I pray that Jesus will say well done for taking care of Barbara soul and directing her to the gospel and away from trouble. Even if I don’t say it i could write a book about how they stood by my side with words of wisdom. Thank you all

See, I always figured priests had a fairly easy life (at least at my parish). He does 3 masses over the weekend, one short mass every weekday, and has to write his sermon for the weekend masses. That’s like a 12 hour workweek! I’m sure there’s more to it though.
