What is the Holy Father wearing?

It is funny that I should read this post now. I was just marvelling on how well the Holy Father had dressed for todays consistory. Tall mitre and wonderful cope. A little flashback to John XIII for me.

I didn;t notice the throne but I am now all the more happier for having it pointed out!

Simply wonderful! LONG LIVE THE POPE!

I believe he might get canonized before JPII. All the magnificent work he’s doing, it is obvious that the Paraclete was active at the 2005 Conclave…
 
It would be great to see the Papal tiara and sedia gestatoria taken out of storage too.

I couldn’t agree more, but I doubt it will happen. Pope Benedict XVI was the first pope to remove the papal tiara from the papal arms, I doubt he will bring it back into use. But it would be nice.
 
Did anybody notice the altar arrangement today!?!?

Wow! I remember when Pope Pius XII passed away. So many things have been “lost” to us in the last 40 years. God bless the Holy Father!

I also agree… If the pope will not use the papal tiara I think the best alternative for that is the mitre with precious stones on it, but it’ll be nice to see him wearing the tiara eventhough he removed it from his coat of arms.

Did anyone also notice that, as the Pope distributed communion, no one genuflected when receiving, no one received on their knees, only a very few women wore veils (it seemed only dignitaries and nuns), one of the women brinigng up the gifts wore slacks, and the Holy Father distributed communion to quite a few people in the hand, as did the priests distributing communion.

If it is God’s will for these things to change, and I believe it is, it will happen. It may take 10 years, maybe even 100. It will happen though…

I do agree. Give it time - the change will come, and we are just now seeing the very beginning.
