What is the Mass?

Now, my question. In my understanding the Mass does not depend upon the language or rituals performed before, or after the Eucharistic Sacrifice? Meaning one could have Mass with only the Consecration of the Host.as that is the core of the Mass. Without this Consecration, we couldn’t call it Mass. [Edited by Moderator] Thank you.

I have never heard it seriously suggested that the New Mass should be banned. I have, however, heard it suggested that the New Mass will gradually improve under the influence of the Traditional Mass and the resurgence of reverent practice.

I hope the final result will be a unified rite which is as holy, hallowed, and beautiful as the Traditional Mass, but with some vernacular permitted and slightly more vocal involvement from the congregation, where appropriate.

Hello Dauphin. Wouldn’t that be nice if that would happen? I guess I am just tired of reading posts from “some” who call themselves bashing anyone with ideas not exactly like theirs.

In my childhood I went to Latin Mass because that was the only Mass available and it was beautiful, incense and all. I really missed this form when the New Mass was introduced, but I adjusted. Apparently some people haven’t.
