I think even our “own works” are not really ours but only by God’s grace. However, St. Paul does speak favorably in a few places of “law” and of “works” In fact he seems to be speaking of different laws and different works. I’ve heard some of this explained as St. Paul speaking in a “focused” way and at other times in a “general” way.And where does he teach that we are saved on the basis of our own works we do?

How would you, for example, explain what he means when he writes in Romans, "“For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified” (2:13)?
