What is the Neocatechumenal Way

Hi everyone,

I heard something about the Neocatechumenal Way, and I’m wodnering what it is, and is it approved? Any help is appreciated!

The neocatechumenal way is approved, with some problems in Japan.

Some of their rites and customs seems to be strange from outside, but it is part of the life. They move some people toward Christ.
 
If you google it, you will find all kinds of things written by Neo-catechumenal enthusiasts, and those who dedicate a lot of their time to say bad things about it. The important thing is always look at their sources (just as with the posts here). The major source categories are:
  • Holy See (decrees from Vatican dicasteries, things that popes had said, etc)
  • News articles about the above (the interesting thing is that an article can interpret a Holy See document just contrary to another) Generally you will read favorable news on Zenit. Much of the most negative news article originate in a few articles of Sandro Magister.
  • Websites of individual enthusiasts with their own “witnesses” and stuff, such as the followers of Fr. Enrico Zoffoli (RIP), who was convinced that the Neocatechumenal Way has introduced heresies in the Church.
Now, you could have found this out doing your own research. But, sincerely, why post it as a question? What replies are you expecting, and how are you going to judge whether they are trustworthy?

Nagyszakall, Did you ever think maybe jeanne71350 is doing research by asking a question? Did you ever think that maybe jeanne71350 is looking for honest answers and gathering information to be able to discern what the truth is and be able to separate fact from fiction? Did you ever think maybe jeanne 71350 has already searched other sites/posts and found them lacking, confusing, incomplete, or just wanted a fresh perspective. Now, you could do us all a favor by either answering or not answering a question. Your respnse smacks of arrogance and hostility. Honestly, why interrogate someone who is asking a question and looking for information?

Yeah, whatever. I think my post provided some of the help the questioner was seeking, but you got so upset about it… do you disagree with my content? Tell me in what?
I did my own research and I am sharing my experience. Forgive me if it looks arrogant.

Some people are just too sensitive and others just don’t want to research and want answers given to them. Google truly is your friend and very simple to use. The forums get run with repeated topics over and over again.
 
Sheesh what’s everybody’s problem? There is so much information out there that it’s hard to wittle it down. Forums are the best place for questions precisely because it allows human interaction and an overall balanced answer coupled with an opinion. If you don’t like that topics are repeated or that people come to forums, suggest you stop using forums altogether since the primary reason we have forums is to get a personal touch to our questions. Who made some of you guys the boss of the internet? Good grief.
