The Germans have beer. Und brats.… What do other more morally sound countries have as a common denominator besides being of the same race?

I learned the speed of a falling object in 9th grade… 9.8 meters per second squared. An unladen swallow is a swallow that flies unladen, as in not carrying any luggage or coconuts. It’s an old Monty Python joke.
The answer: The airspeed velocity of an unladen swallow is roughly 11 meters per second, or 24 miles per hour*, beating its wings 7-9 times per second.
Look, a five ounce bird could not carry a fifty pound Irish Lad!that means an Irish Lad is not riding it.
I know…!Why don’t we have LIKE tabs on these posts? It would be so much more fun!![]()
Oh no, it’s not that serious… I’m just poking around -and I’m always good for a laugh or two, or three… But Definantly not four…!!!This thread is doing wonders for my post count, but am I butting in on a serious thread. When you said money, TEPO, were you serious? I thought it was a hypothetical question. Then I checked and realized this is the “Philosophy” forum and not “The Water Cooler.”![]()
OHHHHHHHH!!! I so envy your ability to read the minds of over 200 million people. Heck, I didn’t even know I was obsessed with it.Yes, we’re all obsessed with money over here… It’s what unites us.
Well, well, well… So in general, materialism isn’t a problem in America…? That’s not what I’ve heard.OHHHHHHHH!!! I so envy your ability to read the minds of over 200 million people. Heck, I didn’t even know I was obsessed with it.
Wait. Maybe *I’m *Albanian!
What?… But I think they’re all really Albanian.
A corrupt and decadent governmentMoney.
You could have stated it more accurately, ‘the very fabric of our society is to support ourselves’. And that would be a better judgement because it actually fits with the American philosophy. America has always stressed the freedom of each person, and also their right and duty to support themselves. That is why we seek to make money. Most people aren’t aiming to get rich, their goal is to support themselves.Yep, the very fabric of our culture is the drive for money… Ahhhh, home sweet home.![]()
Most people can’t get rich; the nature of the system prevents it.You could have stated it more accurately, ‘the very fabric of our society is to support ourselves’. The nature of the world is that not everyone can get rich. That is irrelevant though. Everyone can support themselves, which doesn’t require them to get rich. Most people can’t get rich; the nature of the system prevents it.
Its not true that everybody can support themselves; the nature of the system prevents it.The nature of the world is that not everyone can get rich. That is irrelevant though. Everyone can support themselves, which doesn’t require them to get rich.
No it doesn’t. Every man can find a way to support himself. It might take work, but that is nothing to complain about. Life includes work. Its not true that everybody can support themselves; the nature of the system prevents it.
I suppose, in one sense of the term “support”.No it doesn’t. Every man can find a way to support himself. It might take work, but that is nothing to complain about. Life includes work.
You are going to have to back your statement up with reasons, and explain why people can’t support themselves.
Speaking of toilet paper, we have the Huffington Post, the New York Times, etc. of which I have a pile of in that little house out back with the moon on the door.Well, well, well… So in general, materialism isn’t a problem in America…? That’s not what I’ve heard.
Besides, aside from toilet paper, citizenship, human-ship, and money there isn’t really anything else that anyone has been able to come up with as a common factor for all Americans… So we need to make one.![]()
