What is the origin of God?

I am a new catechist for 5th grade and was asked by a student where God came from , how long has he been here. What would be an appropriate response for this age group?
 
Hi,

Just tell them the truth. God has no beginning. He always was and always will be. Why? Because He is God and has not limits.
