What is the point of the general judgement?

Person 1 goes to Heaven at the particular judgement, person 2 goes to Purgatory and person 3 goes to Hell. At the general judgement person one and two will be happy and person 3 will be unhappy.

What will it matter to person 1 and 2 to hear about others’ sins and even their past sins whereas person 3 what will he care about people’s past sins?

So at the particular judgement person 2 is told they must go to Purgatory for x sins and at the general judgement all the other souls are told of this?

The way I have heard it explained is God doesn’t send us to purgatory or hell.We send ourselves.
 
I’ve never understood the point of 2 judgments. I hope someone with more knowledge chimes in.
 
You are forgetting those who are still living who will not go through the particular judgement but only the general judgement. That is one purpose. The particular judgement is between the individual and God alone but the general judgement is the individual as a member of society, facing also those wronged/helped by him. That is another purpose.
 
Of course He sends us. “Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels” (Mt. 25)
