Atheists have a hard time coming up with a convincing argument for human rights.

Without the concept of objective moral truth and basing our very existence on haphazard chemical bonding, there can never be an argument for human rights. Moral relativism is subjective truth and can never be rooted in anything more than the response of our developed nervous system and how that relates to the chemical reactions in our brains. So, if my brain says that it is alright to rape someone then I am only subjected to the consequences imposed upon me from someone whose brain tells them that it is not o.k. to rape someone. But the question remains: is rape morally wrong? From an atheistic point of view it would depend upon circumstance and consequence. From a Christian point of view ,knowing God to be our objective moral truth, it would be wrong in any given circumstance if we are to seek and follow the essence of Love Itself…teachccd

but I feel different, more in control of my own life.
The first key to happiness and a good life is to realize that this “control” you speak of is an illusion. People often make the mistake of viewing religion as a bunch of rules, which is far from the truth. Religion does not hinder you, it frees you. You think you are being held down by all of these beliefs and rules about what to do and not to do, but what you fail to realize is that by living a true, good religious life, you are freed from sin, which is the biggest ball and chain in existence.

That being said, of course you don’t have to be a Christian to be a good person, nor do you need to be a Christian to be a happy person (though I think you can argue that to be as happy as possible in this life you do need to be a Christian). Really it comes down to what is it that you think is needed to get into heaven. If you think that to get into Heaven you need merely be a good person, then you should live you in what way you think will make you the best person. However if you believe that Faith is also necessary to having eternal life, then of course you better be religious.

So why should you worship God? Well my answer is that I think it is the best way to live. I tried the whole secular route for 18 years, and it left me miserable, feeling worthless, and pretty much hopeless. But in the 2 1/2 years since I converted I have bee happier, more confident, and all around better than I have been before. In other words, it changed my life in many great ways. I need no other reason that that.
