And every Tom,Dickk and Harry has their own Personal interpretation of it.
“First of all you must understand this, that no prophecy of scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation”1 Peter 1:20
There are some things in them hard to understand, which the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction, as they do the other scriptures. 2 Peter 3:16
“Above all, you must realize that no prophecy in Scripture ever came from the prophet’s own understanding, or from human initiative. No, those prophets were moved by the Holy Spirit, and they spoke from God.”
I agree wholeheartedly that Scripture is not defined by personal interpretation. Yet it seems to me here the emphasis isn’t on a magistrate to interpret, but rather, the Spirit … After all, Yeshua gave us a great Advocate, one who “will lead [us] into all truth.” I trust that when we seek the Truth with all that we are, accompanied by vehement prayers, we will receive the answer which we have sought.
However, I am very troubled by the Catholic Institution’s extreme focus on that answer … so much so that it seems to often lose sight of the question. After all, if Yeshua was a Rabbi, then I am forced to wonder: Was he simply a bad one, or was it perhaps about more than just the answer? In the Divine dialogue, who is to saw we humans are even going to be able to understand fully the answer he gives?
For instance, one can believe, and know, that “Jesus loves me.” And over time that understanding will grow; yet even so, what we humans know as “love” is chemical in nature! Thus it seems to me our comprehension will, in this earthly tabernacle, forever be restricted. Likewise, certain matters will remain always a mystery (or at least until that great Day). And from my view, it seems as though the Catholic Church is guilty of passing as much speculation as anyone else, for we may all receive the same answer, and each understand it a bit differently.
