What is the rapture in Catholicism

Priests can speak but don’t because they don’t want to sound like fundamentalists…as we are brought up to Jesus after the final judgment, and I don’t know if I will make it, so I trust in God’s mercy and try my best…it is better to focus on doing the Lord’s will today.

It is a mystery why persons who hate the Church feel the need to post on this forum.

Now choy is a Catholic and I was simply answering him. But you knew that didn’t you Kathleen yet you insist on saying that I am at war with Catholicism. In my post I merely supplied scripture that points to a rapture. These scriptures are there. I didn’t write them. They seem to disagree with choy who says “Catholics don’t believe in the Rapture.”
You on the other hand say “Richard, you just misrepresented Catholic Teaching. We do believe in the final rapture…but it is at the end of this world.” There is nothing in my post to indicate that I believe anything other that the fact that the rapture occures when Jesus returns. So I guess the one misrepresenting Catholic teaching is choy or maybe you. All I know is that scripture says that there is going to be a rapture. A catching up to the Lord in power when He returns. How is this at war with anyone?
 
The difference between Catholics & the rapture idea is that Catholics (and other Christians) believe in the 2nd coming of Jesus. As the rapture is described, there will be a quiet, sneaky 2nd coming for the elect, then the tribulation, then the THIRD coming of Jesus when he comes to reign over the earth. The quiet, sneaky 2nd coming is unbiblical, even using the scripture quoted above, he will come with shouts & trumpets, not quietly.

and I was one of those scared to death kids! We were told it was our responsibility to tell everyone about it, especially if we had unbelieving parents, because we didnt want them to get left behind or go to hell do we? Knowing my parents, you would know why I tried so hard to convince the lol

And if believers were “raptured” to keep them out of tribulation, that would be unprecedented and counter to all of Church and biblical history. Nobody was “raptured” out of slavery in Egypt, out of the Herodian extermination in 6BC, or the fall of the Temple in AD70. Nor did Christians under the Muslim kingdoms, the 3rd Reich, or the Soviet Union have a rapture to save them from their distress.

So if generation after generation faced tribulations without a supernatural exemption, why should the final generation expect anything different?
