My understanding is that belief in the rapture (something about the assumption of all Christians into heaven before the end of the world but prior to judgment day) is a prodominatly Protestant belief and that it is not a belief shared by Catholics, so this is a two part question:
Firstly to Protestants, what is the rapture? Can you please explain what you expect to happen, when and why? Where did the doctrine come from and what scripture/tradition supports it?
Secondly to Catholics, If this is a common Christian belief why doesnt the RCC support it? Is there scripture/tradition that denounces it? is there anything in the CCC or a letter of some kind from the Pope about it?
Clarification would be great. Thanks everyone
:EDIT: If i am incorrect on anything please let me know.
