I came here to answers questions but the out right ignorant and rude comments by the catholics here is shocking if you people want to debate I’m all for that but it must be done with respect not ignorant and rude comments like I said the people here only ask question as a way to attack Islam I don’t think you want Muslims to answer anyone who reads the posts can see this.

If you want me to respect your religion then show us Muslims some respect also we can disagree and still be respectful of others without all the ignorant and rude comments. If the Catholics want adult debate then start acting like adults.

I am sorry to hear what you feel about this forum. I guess, may I ask you to forgive those who made “bad comments” in their posting? I do have good (name removed by moderator)uts from all of the muslims here. From Paarsurrey, Abe Oman, Hamba2han, and many others, and recently from you. Arguments are exist, I admit that. We think that is a good exercise for us to see other’s, right? I and Paarsurrey, for example, have many arguments and disagreements, but I respect him very much, the same respect to other member as well. I do not expect any of you to convert to Catholicism, nor do I expect to convert to Islam. I tell you, the brother of my grandma is a Hajj. I have many arguments with him about our theology. But, theology is theology. I can never make him to convert, and neither can he. Anyway, we do love each other. I always said that I can never forget his loving eye. I can never forget my childhood with him. I used to sit in his bossom and he told me children stories. For me, this forum is a test, of whether I can love my neighbors or not, given the differences in religion. In this forum, our adulthood in our faith is trained.

You are really missing the point of what the other person is saying. I want to give you the benifit of the doubt, but it does look intentional.

Oh no - I understand what Abdul is saying; He is saying that some of us are rude and arrogant. I think he is right. But so what? You just have to take the bad with the good. I can’t help that. He is still welcome to ask and answer questions. He is welcome to pick and choose any thread to be a part of. And he is welcome to leave threads too. Heck, he is also welcome to leave these forums completely; I just don’t see the point of submitting a number of posts indicating how he wants to leave.

Personally, I hope he accepts the challenge to ask and answer questions. But if he wants to continue submitting posts indicating how he wants to leave these forums… well… we’re wasting our time.

Again a few bad apples spoil the recipe. Most of us here really do want to learn and open communications. I think also that for many of us Catholics, we’re kind of used to being put down by secular society as well as other religions so we may be quick to defend ourselves which might come across as arrogant or other (insert emotion here…). Thing is, it’s easy for everyone to misunderstand posts online (on both sides). So take a deep breath, step back and come back to be the peace maker. Your actions will be seen around the forum and noticed for the well intentions you provide. I’m new here too and have noticed a few Catholics who come on only to bash other people. That’s not what we’re all about. I’m actually in one of those heated discussions right now… Best thing to do is state your position and politely back out when necessary. Just don’t generalize those few bad apples to the rest of us please.

My wife works for a cardiologist, who is Muslim. She enjoys learning about his faith, and some of the intracies of it…for example, (I think) there is a month where he will not eat or drink during daylight in an observance.

It can be interesting to learn about others’ faith. It doesn’t have to be “I’m right, and you’re wrong and going to hell”. My weekly Bible study partner is Non-Denominational. Our number one agreement from the beginning, is that we seek what he have in common, not what our differences are.

Hello Everyone

I’m new here too. The forum is so huge I haven’t had the time to read a lot of it.

I would like to say that God gave us a certain measure of freewill and he gave us brains with which to make choices. Those who are posting on this forum have chosen to be here for a purpose. They are having a need fulfilled within themselves or they wouldn’t be here. All of our people relations are along this line. When I choose to speak to anyone in person or otherwise I must ask myself why am I doing so ? The listener must ask why he or she chose to listen to me. Nobody is twisting our arms. I don’t intend this in a mean way but I do know that some Christians believe they are obligated to win souls for Jesus. They believe they will obtain divine favour by doing so or brownie points. It may be the main reason they are here. I don’t know about the Muslims. Perhaps its the same idea?

We are all free to choose what threads we wish to read. Again…if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

Personally I think the forums are a tremendous learning tool. I get a large charge out of them. I don’t take everything I read too seriously. Its the opinions of a handful of people. The sky isn’t falling.

I’ve made an observation on the forums in general that we don’t like the goody goody pretty pretty threads. We say we are so loving and peaceful while at the same time its the threads with the most fights that get the most hits or posts. This indicates to me that we must enjoy evil just as we enjoy it at the movies, reading novels, or playing xbox games. What does this tell us about ourselves? Is it possibly saying that goodness and being good is boring? If the threads were all sugar sweet I bet we’d have very few posters. We like arguments and confrontation. If we simply agreed with each other and said YES, then the thread is finished. Its a done deal, nothing more to say.

I’m not much given to arguing about religion. If you ask me what religion I am I might reply : “Whatever religion God is”…My faith is universal and not really defined by holy books of any kind altho there is truth in all religions and absolute truth in none.

Right now…I’m not a member assigned to any denomination…looking for a new church.

consider UU bluestars, that’s Unitarian-Universalism. Before you say no, UU ( my former denomination-now I just go to pot lucks) started out as Unitarian vs.Trinitarian, but now includes a variety of belief, including atheists, agnostics, wiccans, pagans, theists and christians with a small ‘c’, who believe that Jesus was a great moral leader and prophet, but not a god. It isn’t a Trinitarian Christian faith, obviously. Its congregations tend to be small, well-educated, affluent and white (unfortunately), liberal politically. Lots of classes, interest groups, book groups, Sunday School teaching values, creation stories and comparative religion. People tend to join as refugees from other faiths, the percentages reflecting the mainstream denominations, with, yes, a lot of former Catholics). Women ministers have always been the forefront. Lots of UU’s in seminaries, no minister shortage.
