My husband is interviewing for a company in northern San Diego. It is located just off the 15 and looks a little north of Poway.

Between that area and Carlsbad (where I have family), what are the good communities to live in?

What is the commute like in that area?

What are the faithful and orthodox parishes?

I have already looked into St. Joseph’s Academy in San Marcos and I really like it. What other school info (public or private) can you share?

And what else does a life long Northern California girl need to know?

Thanks a bunch!
Julie

Well from what I understand Oceanside is very affordable right now. Poway is very nice.

For an orthodox parish St. Michael’s Abbey celebrates Latin Mass, but it’ll be an hour drive or slightly less – about 20m from Oceanside.

My daughter moved there last fall, and loves it.

It’s EXPENSIVE!!! She pays over a thousand a month for an apartment the size of our living room.

But right now it’s 80 deg. there, and it’s zero here in Northern Illinois. Hmmm…

Ah, well I am already in California so the sticker shock is all relative.
