Watch this video: youtube.com/watch?v=gDGSV5ITGDkIn other words, why does Islam believe that Jesus is the Messiah? And why does it NOT believe He is the Son of G-d?
Let it be noted though that the man in this video, Dr. Zakir Naik is an incredibly hated and frowned upon figure by people of every religion and nation, particularly because of his comments in support of Osama Bin Laden and Yazeed, everything he says in this video is true. Again, I hate quoting him, but he does in this particular video speak precisely.
Well I may be biased here, but can you honestly with full confidence say that the bible isn’t tainted or corrupt given the fact that Christians themselves admit the bible contains many contradictions and errors? How can a book that an entire religion is based on, contain such large contradictions?I believe they think that the Scripture we adhere to (both Old and New Testament) were corrupted and tainted. So if you go to a Muslim and say, “I don’t see where [insert Muslim belief] in either part of the Christian Bible,” they can easily reply “That’s because it is tainted - the Qu’ran is the true, uncorrupted religious text.” In my opinion, that begs the question.
Most definitely so. We do believe in most of His biblical miracles, such as his ability to heal, give eyesight to the blind, and resurrect the dead. As a Shia Muslim, we do believe that Imam Ali also had such divine characteristics.I’m aware Islam does not equate Jesus with G-d, but I was wondering whether Jesus is thought to have certain extra-human or divine characteristics, similar to those of angels.
This is a very good question. First, just know that I’m only 18 years old, and I can only speak based on what I’ve heard priests talk about all my life, and I don’t know much scripture, so I’m sure how well I could answer your questions. I don’t know if you could say that Jesus is regarded as a lesser prophet in Islam, though he is definitely regarded differently. One thing, though, that I’ve always heard is that Jesus will come back on the day of Judgement alongside the Mahdi. I’ve never heard anything of Mohammed coming back on that day. I can tell you one thing though, that in Shia Islam, one of the reasons we regard Mohammed so high is simply because of the fact that he is one of the five infallibles, and we regard all five of them to be above most beings. Is Jesus regarded as a lesser Prophet even at the time of His Second Coming when He is supposed to proclaim the Truth of Islam? And what else is Jesus supposed to do at that time?
I don’t know where the idea comes from, but I can tell you with full certainty that there is definitely the concept of the antichrist, known in Islam as ‘Kana Dajjal’. And I don’t think the Jews are the only ones prophesied to accept him as the Messiah, I think it’s believed that most of the world, including many Muslims will also be deceived by him. Finally, where does the idea of the anti-Christ–whom the Jews are prophesied to accept as the Messiah according to Islamic teaching–come from in Islam?
