What is the "sign" of the marriage sacrament?

I have been taught that the the word “sacrament” means something like “sacred sign.” I have also been taught that in the sacrament of Baptism the sign of God’s grace given to us is water, whereas in the sacrament of Holy Communion it is the bread and the wine. What is the “sign” for the sacrament of marriage? Is it the consummation (sexual union) of the marriage that takes place on the wedding night?

To ask a follow up: what is the sign for penance?

The sign (or form as the Church calls it) is the man and woman conferring the sacrament upon each other as witnessed by the Church. For more, see:
