What is the significance of rising between 11pm and midnight to pray?

Jesus said this to St. Margaret Mary:

“you will rise between eleven o’clock and midnight, and prostrate yourself for one hour with me, your face against the ground, to appease the div*ine anger by begging mercy for sinners”

She also said this to Sister Josefa
*
“between eleven and midnight Josefa should unite herself to His prayer to appease the wrath of the Father and obtain pardon for sinners.”*

Why is it of all hours, Our Lord Jesus selected this 11pm-12am in order to pray for 1 hour? What is so special about this 11pm-12am hour?

Maybe because it is the last hour of a day. You pray over the previous 23 hours and your actions and your words and you pray how to be different the next 24 hours? That is just a theory. 🤷
 
Poor Clares do this too. It’s my understanding that they pray for the world at this hour because so many sins are committed under the cover of night.
 
Jesus asked the Apostles to stay awake and pray with Him. Instead they fell asleep as He was suffering The Agony in the Garden. When He came back to them as they lay sleeping He asked if they could not pray one hour with Him. This is my perception as to why Jesus asked the two Saints to pray and do penance between the 11th hour and midnight.
 
Keeping vigils is a very good devout practice! Rising in the middle of the night, staying up through the night in prayer. . .

Before electricity, it was not uncommon for people to go to bed at sundown, arise at midnight for an hour, go back to sleep and then arise at sunrise. This sleep pattern is called segmented sleep. It was actually quite common back then.

The Jewish tradition of awaking at midnight for prayers called Tikkun Chatzot is common even today. A great book on this subject is called, “The Sweetest Hour” that has the actual Tikkun Chatzot prayer service in Hebrew and English. It is considered a very pious practice by Jews.

In the book, the author makes mention of several reasons to pray at this hour. One, is that the absolute quiet and silence is perfect for prayer.

I was thinking this same way too, it must be to appease the anger of God for the sins committed throughout the day that is why this prayer is done at the last hour of the day.
