What is the status of St. Veronica?

St. Veronica has always been one of my favorite saints. I have always been drawn to her love and pity for Our Lord on His walk to the cross. I named my daughter Veronica after this saint. I know her history is shrouded in mystery and not much information. I know some famous saints in the church, namely St. Charles Borromeo, wanted to eliminate her from the list of saints, etc. What is her status in the church? Is she still an official saint?
