What is the truth behind the name "Easter?"

Some of my protestant friends are saying Happy Resurrection Sunday instead of Happy Easter. I did a little google work and it sounds like they believe something was misinterpreted from a translation standpoint and that Easter was named after some ancient pagan goddess of spring. Help me with the truth here. It almost sounds ridiculous to me because what else would we be celebrating? Many thanks.
