What is the virtuous purpose
Of broadcasting a person’s weakness
Whether or not
The weakness is correct or incorrect?

…Of repeatedly broadcasting…
You meant “virtue” in your title, yes?

Purpose depends on the weakness.
Weakness of pedophilia? Virtue says “warn others.”
Weakness of arson activities? Virtue says “warn others.”
Weakness of involvement in occult? Virtue says “warn others.”

… and so forth.

To “broadcast a person’s weaknesses” without a valid reason is the sin of detraction, as seen in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (bold emphasis added):
2477 Respect for the reputation of persons forbids every attitude and word likely to cause them unjust injury. He becomes guilty:
— of rash judgetment who, even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor;
— of detraction who, without objectively valid reason, discloses another’s faults and failings to persons who did not know them;
— of calumny who, by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them.
A previous poster gave examples of valid reasons, e.g., when a person’s fault must be disclosed to protect others.

Thank you.

none whatever if you mean informing third parties.
the correct procedure is to discuss the matter privately with the individual and then only if you are the person charged with care of that person or someone directly impacted by the person’s behavior. The only time you would tell a third party is if there is reasonable cause to suspect this weakness may lead to harm to the person himself or to someone else, and then you inform only those who have a right and need to know, and who can do something about it.

for instance if the weakness is alcholism, I have a duty to confront that person, and there is a right and wrong way to do it, if I am the parent or other family member, employer or anyone else who is in a position to suffer from that weakness. I have a duty to inform a third party, say if that person tries to get employment as a truck driver. But never is there any good reason to make a general broadcast of that knowledge.

is this a general question or is there a “rest of the story” as Paul Harvey would say.

is there a reason for this choice of forum?

Thank you for your comment.

I have personally known
Many people (including myself)
Who have experienced this
Where is was presented as virtue
But just didn’t feel charitable
is there a reason for this choice of forum?
Since it is about virtue
I chose the “Spirituality” forum

that make sense

in general you can generally bet that one someone is engaging in harmful behavior but claiming virtue it is not.

if it is someone who has reason to care about you and does as the gospels tell us to, gently and privately reprimands you about something you are doing that is clearly wrong and harmful, you may take it as an act of love. If that person goes behind your back and tells people who have no right or need to know, not. However if what you are doing is potentially seriously hurtful to yourself or others, he has a duty to tell those who are in authority over you.

No need for details here, but there are always two sides to every story

…No need for details here,…
Thank you.

I think it is wise
To follow the Catechism of the Catholic Church
In all its parts
Regarding this issue,
Not simply feelings.

And continue to
Take advantage
Of the many opportunities
To pray about it.
