Tradition is the living continuity in the Church (the Bible, the Creed, decrees of the Ecumenical Councils, the writings of the fathers, the Canons, the service books, icons, doctrine, church government, spirituality, art and Liturgy). Among the various elects of Tradition, a unique prominence belongs to the Bible, to the Creed and to the doctrinal definitions of the Ecumenical Councils: the things we accept as absolute and unchanging, something that cannot be cancelled or revised. The writings of saint Athanasius, for example, does not occupy the same position as Gospel of St. John.
