Sorry if that question seems a bit to general or something. From what I’ve heard Unitarism is a (no offense to anyone who is Unitarian)a very liberal Protestant denomination in that it lacks doctrine (which I’ve heard it’s been criticized for) emphasing deeds over doctrine and that it is a nontrinitarian. If anyone would to care to correct me and/or explain about it that would be appreciated.Thank you very much so for your time.

Yes, they were and are non-trinitarian but the definition of “Unitatrian” has moved so far beyond that that the descriptor of “Christian” simply does not apply and arguably never did.

Not only does Unitarianism *not *accept the Godhood of Jesus, in the 1890s the American Unitarian Association began to allow non-Christian and non-theistic churches and individuals to be part of their fellowship.

In fact a UU minister friend of mine told me that about half of her congregation are atheist.

“Liberal”: yes.
“Protestant”: no. They are not protesting anything.

Yes, that’s my understanding and from events held there that I see advertised in the paper a lot of “new age” stuff too.
I was raised Lutheran and to my knowledge you can’t be Protestant (or Christian) without believing in the Trinity. That’s why LDS and JH are considered quasi-Christian religions by Protestants and Catholics.

Unitarianism is anything you want it to be. I’ve never been quite certain as to why it even exists. There are certainly no commonly held beliefs among its members.

When I was a kid way back in the mid "60’s, we had neighbors who were Unitarian. My parents never explained what that meant, but I remember I got the feeling that they thought it wasn’t a “real” religion, just a way to belong to a church or temple. In those days it seemed like everyone “belonged” somewhere, even if they didn’t always attend regularly.

Garrison Keillor has some great quips about Unitarians. Such as their sermons never mention “you know who”, or Unitarianism is athiesm with hymns.

Unitarianism Universal has a web site that may help you understand what they “believe” , or more to the point, what they Don’t believe.

My aunt and uncle belong to this “church”, they are liberal activist who believe in anything spiritual but not in God. Any God or god(ess) will do just fine with them or non at all. Confused yet? So was I when I tried to understand their faith.
