It appears that it was made to show dates and basic association between certain Protestant denominations. The Catholic “branch” is there merely to show that it is where those denominations split off from. Given what I presume was its purpose, I doubt the intent was to undervalue the importance of the Catholic Church. (One would of course hope that if the author of it does not see the Catholic Church as the real universal church, that they will someday.)
