I think you may have misunderstood. The point was not to criticize you; the point was to demonstrate that no matter how you choose to prioritize assistance, there will always be some people who are going to be turned away; and therefore, it will always be possible to level accusations of not caring about others.
You may have heard the proverb, Don’t criticize someone until you have walked a mile in his shoes. It is easy to say that the folks who run Catholic Charities are uncaring because they turned you away. If you have never been in their position - the position of being always overwhelmed with requests for help, and not enough money or supplies to help everyone… then don’t pass judgment on them.
