I vote for pie. I grew up in a farm community where women were judged on their ability to make a good pie crust. Pies were a great way to use all the apples, rhubarb, cherries, and so on. Custard and cream pies were a delicious use of all that milk you had in the spring when the cows came fresh.
Are we going to do recipes?
Yes, that’s my paternal side. My stepmom was known throughout the county for her pie crust. They used to have pie suppers all the time. Young men fought over her pies.
As for me, the question was, “What is your family’s favorite dessert?” But when I got to the poll, it asked, “What is YOUR favorite dessert?”
MY favorite dessert is cookies. Anything except chocolate chip, which for some reason, I just don’t care for right now. My very favorite is a good oatmeal raisin, warm and made with butter. But a close second are these.
Greek Honey Cookies They are TO DIE FOR!!! They practically melt in your mouth. I have no idea how many calories is in each one and I don’t want to know!!!
Now, the rest of the family - will eat pretty much anything sweet, but their favorite is probably cake AND ice cream with full cream on top! Yes, they are all skinny males. No, we don’t indulge in that combo every day. Hubby eats some candy or cookies or whatever is on hand. Kiddos eat ice cream if I have it. For special occasions I will bake a gluten-free cake and serve ice cream and cream with it. Hubby also puts cream on pie.
You haven’t lived until you’ve had chocolate cake with full cream poured all over it. mmmm-mmmmm-mmmmmm.
