What is your favorite band?

Hard to pick a favorite, but if we’re limiting it to bands I would probably say, Boston, Eagles, 3 Doors Down, Third Day,and Reliant K are my favorites.

P.S. That is a very young Al DiMeola on guitar. Listen carefully to the run he plays from 5:10 to 5:20. The song is “The Magician” from Return to Forever’s “Romantic Warrior” album. A masterpiece if ever there was one.

I didn’t mean to say “the greatest” but “one of the greatest”. It’s one of my pet peeves when someone says that one musician is the greatest and here I slipped up and said it. All artists have different styles and no one is really the “greatest”.

I like that video. He does some interesting things on his bass. Definitley has some fast fingers and a catchy little tune to. I love people like him that can make you feel their music.

Well since we are sharing good artists here is another one of my favorites. Drummer Buddy Rich. This is a solo when he was about 65.

St. Thomas Aquinas, for Pange Lingua. It is my favorite hymn, Salve Regina in second (though it isn’t by Aquinas, I know).

Talk Talk, the old brit-pop band. I’m not a huge fan of their popular material, but rather their experimental stuff which ended up killing their career. “Spirit of Eden” and “Laughing Stock” are phenomenal pieces of art. I recommend them to anyone who has a deep appreciation for music.

I wouldn’t recommend the following bands to anyone unless they had particularly…Metal, punk or post-rock tentencies. My favorite heavy bands would probably be either Botch (We Are the Romans), Isis (Oceanic) or Refused (The Shape of Punk to Come).

And of course, I can’t deny the classical geniuses Mozart and Rachmaninoff, among others, though I am especially fond of Amadeus and Sergei.

The Beatles, John Contrane, Miles Davis… I like a lot, yes.

I know exactly what you mean. How do you say who is the best? What would the criteria be?

Yes, amazing stuff. That was from a TV show in 1976, which explains the poor quality.

Matchbox Twenty is my favorite band, but I also like 3 Doors Down, Lifehouse, and The Ramones. :cool:

I know this is from Talk Talk’s pop era, but Jorge Sedano on Fox Sports Radio uses “It’s My Life” as his theme song.

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. It’s Nick Cave’s band is all that needs to be said. Or The Cruxshadows. Electro-goth, with lyrics that, at least to me, aren’t obnoxiously depressive.

My favorite song is “These Are The Days of Our Lives”, which was off of Inudendo (which is not at all my favorite album, and on the whole, was not very good). However, my favorite album is “A Day At The Races”.
