What is your favorite Bible Verse from the letters of St. Paul? Mine would probably be Philippians 4:13.

Romans 7:15 (NIV) I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do.

At first, I was thinking— “A better question would be, what’s your favorite compound-complex sentence from St. Paul?” As Knox said, he definitely thought in paragraphs! 😛 I would hate to have diagrammed some of his sentences in high school. 😛

But then I decided I was very fond of Galatians 6:9–
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Oh-- I also like 2 Corinthians 9:6–
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

With anger being pertinent in the news lately, St. Paul writing on “righteous anger” is one of the quotes:

Ephesians 4: 26-27:
26 Even if you are angry, do not sin: never let the sun set on your anger

27 or else you will give the devil a foothold.
My friend who is a big Bible reader has told me his favorite book of St. Paul is Philippians. I remember it this way because he somehow says Filipinos or something to do with the Philippine islands as a memory aid.

Exactly! People can not sin just to make a point, even if it is the right point.

2 Corinthians 4:7 – the “vessels of clay” verse.

Titus 3:10-11: ‘Reject a divisive man after a first and second admonition, knowing that such a man is corrupt and sinful; he is self-condemned.’ Because it is the proper way to deal with heretics 🙂

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Romans 3:23

I like what would be considered half of a verse
Acts 27:23 “…the God to whom I belong and whom I serve…”
That’s quite an identity! It always lifts my spirit.

In General, St Paul is not my favorite author. Yet sometimes, under the inspiration, he relates things absolutely amazingly!

My favorite passage in ALL Scripture is from the same Letter you mentioned.

Philippians 2:1-11

So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any incentive of love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfishness or conceit, but in humility count others better than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form he humbled himself and became obedient unto death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Maybe this one…

1 Corinthians 13:2 And though I have the power of prophecy, to penetrate all mysteries and knowledge, and though I have all the faith necessary to move mountains – if I am without love, I am nothing.
