I’m sure glad to see the heading with “foul” having been changed to “fowl”. Fits much better.

I love all birds. I rescued one that got caught in one of my vents in the house. It was a woodpecker, and when he got out, he flew away.

I think one of my favorites is the little hummingbird.

That reminds me of the time I was doing the Great Backyard Bird Count, and there was this Hairy Woodpecker feeding from a suet feeder I had attached to a tree trunk. While it was feeding, this Northern Pygmy Owl flew right at it in apparent attack mode. That little owl wasn’t much larger than the woodpecker, who flew away. The owl ended up flying right into the wires of the suet cage and was stunned and fell into the snow. I watched as he laid there with his tail feathers fanned out, and within a few minutes the owl righted itself and flew off in the opposite direction.

Northern Pygmy Owls are diurnal hunters, that is, they hunt in the daytime, and will take on prey their size or larger.

The quick woodpecker got away.

I have had parakeets and lovebirds. One of my favorites was a little blue parakeet I called Cuddles. He talked.

We had a blue Parakeet named Tweety. He talked a lot . We also had a cat in our house and one of the things Tweety learned to say was, “Here Kitty Kitty Kitty!”

I had a Bridled Titmouse come by my place yesterday. That’s backyard bird #119 for me.(Please Note: This uploaded content is no longer available.)

I saw this hawk today resting in the backyard through the kitchen window

Here’s those little gray birds again that come around en masse a few times a day to eat tiny bugs from the trees and shrubs. They make frequent quick high chirps to stay in communication with each other.

I saw a beautiful woodpecker who wakes my kids up every morning (which they are NOT happy about, lol) It was a guilded flicker. I didn’t get a picture of it because my camera phone is broken. Ha dno idea what it was, but it was so pretty I had to look it up!
