What is your favorite Christmas holiday movie?

I’m a little ashamed to say it’s Lethal Weapon.

Or maybe The Fellowship of the Ring. (Yes, it’s a Christmas movie, at least if Die Hard is. The Fellowship leaves Rivendell on Christmas Day, per Tolkien. Plus I got used to watching each release in the trilogy at Christmas.)

No, my final choice is Les Miserables. Saw it two Christmases ago and it became one of my favorite films. It’s probably the most Christocentric film in recent years. My daughter and I have watched the DVD each Christmas since. I still well up in tears at the end. It’s embarrassing.

Oh yeah. How could I forget Die Hard? 🙂
Have you ever seen the ‘Die Hard’ themed Christmas cookies?

Another odd little Christmas film that I liked quite a bit as a kid that I never see anymore

"We’re No Angels’ with Humphrey Bogart made in the mid 50s. Odd in that it’s a comedy and I can’t think of any other ones that he was in.

Die Hard.
Just watched it last night, didn’t realize how old it is. Bruce Willis has an almost-full head of hair – and smoking is still allowed in airports and offices!!

As for A Christmas Story my cousins were going back and forth on FB quoting their favorite scenes. I’d never seen it so I watched today. My favorite: when Ralphie comes home blinded and his parents ask what happened he says, “It was . . . soap poisoning.”
An okay movie but not great.

Never heard of those cookies. But man. I’m hungry. So now I have to go find some type of cookie to eat.

Never saw We’re No Angels. Gonna look it up.

To be honest I haven’t seen a lot of “Christmas” movies.

I enjoyed the animated version of A Christmas Carol, starring Jim Carrey and directed by Robert Zemeckis, from a few years ago.

Also a few years ago, I finally got around to seeing It’s A Wonderful Life - blind-bought the DVD from Columbia House.

There are still a lot of movies bandied about as “Christmas classics” that I still have yet to see. Off the top of my head: White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street (the original), A Christmas Story.

White Christmas
is on Netflix streaming, so I am hoping to watch it sometime within the next few days.
If I lived in your town I would lend you my DVD of A Christmas Story.

Seriously, I bet you’d love it! It never seems to get old; I bet people’ll be watching it a hundred years from now.

Sean Penn was in a 90s remake of it which wasn’t altogether bad.🤷

Christmas In Conneticut .
Although White Christmas is a real close second

👍 I like that one too!!

Also another one I remember is Holiday Affair with Robert Mitchum and the last name of the actress is Leigh. My mind is blank for her first name. She was married to Tony Curtis. Janice or Janet? 🤷

Christmas in Connecticut is fun to watch.

I just watched this old movie today,
and love the way it has been written,
old style poetic.
Love it.

“A Child’s Christmas in Wales”

Full movie here.

I like that one a lot, too.

Bogart was also in the romantic comedy “Sabrina” with Audrey Hepburn.

thanks for remembering Janet’s name. I think I will watch White Christmas again tomorrow. I watched it 3 weeks ago. I never get tired of it.
I like meet me in St. Louis too. That can be a Thanksgiving/Christmas movie. I hope they will show Holiday Affair.
On Friday they are showing Shirley Temple movies all day on either get tv or movies (antenna tv).

The Grinch (old animated TV version).
Home Alone. (It reminds me of the Fifth Joyful Mystery :))

The Nutcracker!

So, this year we missed the live performance. I had to resort to an animated version. I ended up with Barbie staring in the Nutcracker. My husband looked at me like Ralphie in his pink bunny pj’s (A Christmas Story). Anyways it was actually fantastic! My husband even muttered “that was good” at the end. Who knew?!?!?

“The Nativity” is my FAVORITE Christmas movie.

I always get touched when Mary is cleaning Joseph’s feet (while he’s asleep).
