How about the 1933 comedy-drama “Dinner at Eight,” which boasts a stellar cast? That’s going back a while, so I suppose only film buffs would know about it. Nonetheless, a must-see!
 
Last night I watched Young Frankenstein.

I hadn’t seen it a good many years, but I enjoyed the silliness in it so much.

Gene Wilder had such awesome facial expressions.

The silly one liners like, “What hump” or “Werewolf? There wolf”.

And the completely absurd medical conference of elite scientists and neurosurgeons dressed in black tie to witness the monster sing “Putttin on the Riiitz”.

And the discord of the accents, some German, some Cockney.

The ongoing gag about Fra Blucher and the horses.

So funny.
 
Not a comedy film per se, but a horror spoof that keeps you laughing at the silliness of it all:

The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes

Imagine your tomatoes rising up out of the garbage disposal to get revenge for the grinding they get, or rolling down the street en masse to attack human beings.

And along the same lines–The Little Shop of Horrors with it’s man-eating Venus fly-trap demanding that you feed it. FEED ME!

I liked The Egg and I which introduced Ma and Pa Kettle to the screen.

“The Attack of the Killer Tomatoes” has risen to the level of a cult classic.

One other spoof–of soap operas–that I recall is a television comedy film called “The Shameful Secrets of Hastings Corners.” Then there is the spoof of detective films, “Murder by Death,” which is quite funny as well.

Can’t argue with this list!

I’d add My Cousin Vinnie, The Producers. Am working my way through the wonderful Laurel and Hardy shorts collection, some of those are amazingly funny. Ditto to W.C.Fields and the Marx Brothers (the first 5 films of theirs.)
 
My all time favorite comedy, hands down, is Repo Man, but I didn’t mention it earlier owing to it’s highly secular content.🤷

The W.C. Fields film “The Bank Dick” (1940) is so funny, especially the part about the grandmother’s paisley shawl.
