I’ll let you know when I go to my first Easter liturgy this weekend!

I did go to about half of the Vigil last year, but didn’t realize how long it was and left halfway through. I remember when we were standing outside and everyone had their lit candles and we made our way into the dark church, with someone singing “Christ our Light” and everyone responding “Thanks be to God” and I got such a shivery wonderful feeling.

I think I knew I was Home then.

Definitely the Exultet, the glorious Gloria and the Victimae Paschali Laudes

Actually my favorite Victimae, is Pietro Yon’s version, (he used to be at St. Patrick’s in NY, years ago). The soprano solo is very nice. Many organists can’t handle the octave 32nd “runs”, so unless they can you don’t get the real version, (unless they use an orchestra). You can download it at iMesh. (Monseignor Schuler’s great choir does it very well). (May he RIP). 😛

I like the Litany of the Saints. I hope that our parish does the contemporary version of it during the Vigil, because it’s very beautiful.
