These were the first words that I learned from the Liturgy of the Hours. To this date they bring me much comfort knowing that I can trust in the Lord:

1: Deus, in adiutorium meum intende,
Domine, ad adiuvandum me festina.

(God, come to my rescue, Lord, come quickly to aid me)

2: Domine, labia mea aperies
Et os meum annuntiabit laudem tuam.

(Lord open my lips, and my mouth will say your praise)

V/ Emítte Spíritum tuum, et creabúntur.
R/ Et renovábis fáciem terrae

Church use
Deus meus, ex toto corde poenitet me omnium meorum peccatorum… (Act of contrition)

Everday use
Sit tibi vita longa et omnia bona (Live long and proper)
Pacem et vitam longam (Peace and long life)

In memory of Majel Barrett, February 23, 1932 – December 18, 2008.

God Bless!

Sancte Míchaël Archángele, defénde nos in prǽlio.

Saint Michael Archangel, defend us in battle.

Another one that is becoming one of my favorites is the Pater Noster, especially when chanted by a priest in Latin.

Probably going to misspell this, but here goes:

Sursum Corda
Habemus Ad Dominum:)

‘Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam’:

For the greater glory of God. Motto of the Jesuits.

Difficult for me, but I guess my favorite(s).
  1. Deus lo vult! God wills it.
  2. From Pslams and also well known boys song;
Cantate Domino Canticum Novum…my latin may be failing me but…
Sing ye a New Canticle/Song unto the Lord.
  3. Gloria in excelsis Deo. Glory to God on high
  4. Earlier stated Tantum Ergo
  5. Lastly Ave Verum by William Byrd
