what is your favourite prayer?

do you ever go through a period of time when you have a favourite prayer that you like to say or a favourite prayer intention that you like to pray for…and then after a while it changes?

what is your favourite prayer (any prayer… if it’s your favourite it doesn’t matter) and what is your favourite prayer intention

Acturally I often use the first chapter of St. Augustine’s Confessions in Latin. It is only one page actually. It starts out: Magnus es Domine, et laudabalis valde…" Great art thou, O Lord, and greatly to be praised…"
What about yours?
 
“O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a Fount of Mercy for us, I trust in You!” Gives the grace of conversion to one soul each time it is prayed with a contrite heart ❤️ I ask Jesus to apply these prayers that I say to the souls of His little ones who will be dying today and going to Hell.

Something I’ve been drawn to pray for on many occaisions is for the babies in the NICU (Neonatal ICU) and their families. I like to pray to St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, to intercede for them.
 
One of the prayers I pray every morning:

Prayer for the indwelling of the Holy Spirit by St Augustine:

Holy Spirit, powerful Consoler, sacred Bond of the Father and Son, Hope of the afflicted, descend into my heart and establish in it Your loving dominion. Enkindle in my tepid soul the fire of Your Love so that I may be wholly subject to you.
We believe that when You dwell in us, You also prepare a dwelling for the Father and the Son. Deign, therefore, to come to me, Consoler of abandoned souls, and Protector of the needy. Help the afflicted, stengthen the weak, and support the wavering.
Come and purify me. Let no evil desire take possession of me. You love the humble and resist the proud. Come to me, glory of the living, and hope of the dying. Lead me by Your grace that I may always be pleasing to you.
 
My favourite prayers change very much! Now the prayer which is always in my head (and that I’m always repeating) is the one that I’m using as signature…
 
the older I get the more inclined I am to get back to basics. LOTH, the rosary, and meditation with the gospel via lectio divina.
 
I love the Divine Mercy Chaplet, rosary, and have a special devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe because it is through my interest in her beautiful tilma image that I first started to research and get interested in the Catholic Church.
 
I love all the devotions mentioned above, but my very very favorite prayer is The Lords Prayer because it was given to the apostles and passed down to us by Jesus when he was on earth.

The intentions are all in the prayer.
 
O Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee…

(becoming a habit)

My favourite prayer is my life offered to God, but my favourite vocal prayers are:

I pray the Hail Holy Queen daily for little children:

My constant prayer intentions which I offer all of my life to Jesus for are:

’ My Lord Jesus please remember my intentions for Priests, the Priesthood, vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life, conversion of people to You and Peace on Earth. Bless all the little children Jesus and Your will be done. Amen’

My devotions are:

The Cross of Jesus, The Passion of Jesus, The Infant Jesus, The Blessed Sacrament, Mary my Mother- Our Lady of Mt Carmel, St Therese, St Paul, St Padre Pio and St Faustina and the Divine Mercy Chaplet

In the Living Prayer of my life
 
My favourite prayer used to be the Rosary,but now Im back in school,I simply dont have time to pray it every day.Now my favourite prayer is to memorize Bible versus or sing hymns.Unfortuntely,Im so busy that I dont get to pray half as often as Id like.My favourite prayer intention is ‘For the abolishion of all injustice,especially murder and blasphemy.’

I encourage you to continue praying the Rosary. You will find many times when you are walking from one room to the next, from one building to the next at school, from building to parking lot, or on the bus…etc … you can complete the Rosary a day. 🙂

Can you “break up” the rosary in parts like that? I mentally sing the divine mercy chaplet alot and wonder because I have broken it down into parts, and not in order, if I’m doing anything but humming a tune. Tim
 
Every night as I close my eyes “God, have mercy on me a sinner” never fails to cry from my soul.

I am sure you can especially when time does not allow you to compelete all at once.

Of course you can, time is not relevant only we are subject to time, God is not. Pray as you can and not as you think you should.

Prayer is about you talking intimately with God not about time and making it difficult for yourself. You pray to God as suits your state in life God has placed you in.

Say a decade, break off as time dictates and then get back to it saying ‘well my Love and dearest Friend the prayer of my work is done and given to You, let’s get back to the Rosary’

Thing is TOP, when we break off the Rosary we do not break off from God’s Presence, so you are with Him always and He is with you always, going about together down the day sharing with Him the prayer of your daily life

At one time I used to recite the Hail Holy Queen for almost everything. I still recite the Our Father for most things. Sometimes I start it unconciously- like on the way to the supermarket- then I use it to pray for something

My favourite invocations are “Jesus, I trust in you” “Merciful Jesus, hide me in your Heart” or the Anima Christi- even though it is more for communion but I see no reason why it cannot be applied elsewhere. Always start your day with a Glory be.

I also carry around my mp3 player which regularly plays all the 4 Marian antiphons and Ave Maris Stella, the Veni Creator and the litany of saints (it also has the other litanies but these are spoken and I like to sing my prayers) some hymns to the Blessed Sacrament and a beautiful piece which I use to meditate on the Passion of Christ and the Sorrows of Mary- O vos omnes. It helps pass the time walking to and from church.
 
I love the St. Michael prayer.

St. Michael the archangel, defend us

I usually have informal prayers, but my favorites are The Lord’s Prayer, the Hail Mary and the first part of the text to a religious piece of music by G.F. Handel. I usually pray it while on the train, so I can’t sing it out loud, but will sing it in my head:

“Keep me faithfully in Thy paths, O Lord, and cleanse me.
Cleanse me from my sins.”

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, I love you, save souls!
The St. Michael Prayer
Jesus, I trust in You.
