what is your favourite prayer?

An antiphon from night prayer of the Liturgy of the Hours.

Keep us safe, Lord, while we are awake, and guard us as we sleep, that we may keep watch with Christ and rest in peace. Amen.
 
Oh, Holy Spirit, Beloved of my soul, I adore thee;
Enlighten, guide, strengthen and console me.
Tell me what I must do, and help me to do it.
I promise to be submissive to all that You ask of me,
and to accept all that You permit to happen to me.
Let me only know Your will. Amen
 
My new favourite prayer is this hymn. I happened to pick up old Anglican hymnal and remembered this one. It was written originally written by Bianco da Sienna. It is a PERFECT prayer.
Come down, O Love Divine, seek Thou this soul of mine,
And visit it with Thine own ardor glowing.
O Comforter, draw near, within my heart appear,
And kindle it, Thy holy flame bestowing.

The Rosary is THE prayer to me.

I also like Hail Holy Queen, used to say it alot especially when going through tough times.

I have just been starting to say the Anima Christi which for some reason I cry through.

Others I like:

St. Michael Prayer
The Memorare
The Divine Chaplet of Mercy
The Chaplet of Conversion

And my ejaculations throughout the day:
(All of these are easy to remember)
Jesus I trust in You
Mary be my salvation
And the prayer to Our Lady of America: “By Thy Holy and Immaculate Conception O Mary, Deliver Us From Evil.”

Guess I have lots of them.🙂

I would have to say the Prayer of St. Francis:

Lord, make me an instrument of Thy peace;
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;

I first encountered it at the end of the Mother Theresa movie. I’ve been in love with it since then. :o
 
I found this in a book by Father Gabriele Amorth and have prayed it nearly every day since:

Prayer for Inner Healing

Lord Jesus, you came to heal
our wounded and troubled hearts.
I beg you to heal the torments that
cause anxiety in my heart;
I beg you, in a particular way, to heal
all who are the cause of sin.
I beg you to come into my life
and heal me of the psychological harms
that struck me in my early years

I have several.

For quick use often during the day is one of my own creation:
Almighty Father we thank you for this glorious day, for all the blessings You bestowed on us, and the Opportunity to serve you.

Another one I really like is an old one:
Prayer before a crucifix.
Look down upon me good and gentle Jesus
as before thy face I humbly kneel,
And with burning soul pray and beseech thee
to fix deep in my heart live sentiments of
faith hope and charity; true contrition for my sins
and a firm purpose of amendment.
Meanwhile, with tender love I ponder thy five most precious wounds.
Pondering over them within me and calling to mind the words
which david made thee say concerining thyself,
“They have pierced my hands and feet. They have numbered all mu bones.”

I also like that prayer. It’s very beautiful! 👍 And, as I said before, I have always in my head “My God, have mercy on me that I’m a sinner”.

-The Lord’s Prayer (and many will have objections to this, but I like the final doxology at the end: “for Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.”)

Oh this one is special too can’t forget **Saint Martha’s **Nine Tuesdays Novena after the recovery of my brother from cancer 25 years ago.
 
New favorites come to me all the time. Currently it is an Act of Thanksgiving for after communion. I found it in “A Manual of Prayer for the use of the Catholic Laity.”

What shall I render unto Thee, O Lord Jesus for all that Thou hast
done unto me, especially on this day?
In Thy care for me Thou hast given me Thy Body for my food,
and Thy Blood for my drink, and both as a pledge of future glory.

I’ve never seen this prayer before – it’s beautiful – thank you.

I have several “favorites.”
But while I’m busy and can’t spend time quiet time with our Lord, I merely pray “Dear Jesus, I love you, help me to love you more” – usually several times a day.
