Very well said. There is no separation between kids and adults in terms of entertainment. To state that there is is a lie that needs to be exposed whenever it appears. And when I was a kid and didn’t like something, that was that.I find most comedies made by Hollywood to be simple, stupid, debased, mean spirited, in no way funny, and lacking any merit. I’ve not seen this movie but based on the description it is one of those. I don’t object to portraying people realistically which can include immorality. But I don’t find comedies like this do it in a way where there is any moral value or I can laugh at it.
Jesus told us to be like children to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. The same may apply to our entertainment choices. If we aren’t entertained by ‘safe’ entertainment we might be debased. I can still watch and enjoy The Andy Griffith Show just like when I was a kid. At the same time I have a different appreciation for it. The reason is because while simple and safe it isn’t mean spirited. It pokes fun at people’s quirks while respecting their dignity.
