What is your opinion of prolific eBay seller "Liturgy?"

Before we start thowing out terms like “profiteers taking their gallon of blood” is it possible to imagine that the eBay seller might actually be doing something good?

Having this stuff in the hands of the salvage company eventually to be sold in antique stores for use as house decorations doesn’t sit too well with me.

Sure, it would be great of the universal Church had a system for reuse but it doesn’t and so the guy might be doing a legitimate service, no? Catholics jacking relics while the priest is on vacation and selling them on the open market is one thing but is a guy who makes a profit recovering used religious articles so that some of them can hopefully be returned to sacred use such a bad thing?

I have purchased several things from “Liturgy” or “Creative Urns” as they are also called.
Don’t blame them for the high prices. These things are treated as works of art with prices to match.

It doesn’t matter, to many people in business, that they sell Relics. There are no “relic cops”. Its not against the civil law.

Sets of Altar candle sticks with Crucifixes are selling for 2,000 to 5,000 bucks. You bet thats expensive but they are getting it.

Further, why does eBay allow the sale of relics? They prohibited the listing of firearms (there was nothing illegal about selling firearms via eBay) and have dilligently policed it. Just try to find a gun for sale on eBay. They could do the same for relics except the Church has such little influence these days.

Not sure why this chalice still won’t become a house decoration except perhaps because of it’s blistering high price? Do I think “Liturgy” would eventually send something like this to the smelter if that brought the most money? Yes, I do.

WOW!! I just realized that “Liturgy” or “Creative Urns” is ALSO known as “Thechurchguy.” I have had a couple of dealings with him. Once I bought a set of communion patens. They were supposed to be pristine. They were beautiful antiques but they each had a spot on them. I called to return my patens and he told me that he didn’t pay the people a lot of money that worked for him and that sometimes things slip through (he used different words.)

He said he would ship me replacements and to just keep those he already shipped me. He was true to his word. The replacements were even nicer and they were pristine. There has to be a HUGE margin in that business if he didn’t even want to spend a few minutes dealing with issuing a UPS call tag.

I think “Liturgy” or “Creative Urns” sells smaller things under “Thechurchguy” label…
